Bittersweet

Joe and I are in the process of buying a home (SWEET) and are ready to make room for our growing family. Above is a picture of the home that we found. It's located on a cul-de-sac in Oconee County and sits on 2.5 acres. It's been completely remodeled on the inside and it's move in ready. The only problem is....we might not be able to move in over the nice 4 day weekend (New Years) because USAA is giving us the run around. All it takes is for someone to make a phone call or take the initiative to make things happen; instead, this is what I keep getting....

A bunch of broken promises (BITTER). Our original closing date has come and gone, and today they said that we should be able to close tomorrow at 2pm. BIG FAT LIE! All I want is someone to be honest with me and tell me something realistic, rather than building my hopes up only to set me up for DISAPPOINTMENT. USAA has always exceeded my expectations with everything, except their loan processing department. NEVER again will I use USAA for a loan!

So it looks like we'll be moving right in the middle of my busiest week at work to date. I have 8 annual meetings to conduct...all of which start at 5:30pm or later, and Joe will be out of town for the next two weekends. So here's a big fat THANKS for NOTHING USAA! You are really stressing me out!

Holy Heartburn!!!

One of the complaints that my friends told me they experienced while they were pregnant, besides morning sickness which I thankfully don't have, was HEARTBURN. This week it's caught up to me. I think I might have to switch to a very bland diet, because everything else sets my heart on fire...and not in a good way! Goodbye flavorful food....hello TUMS!

Shhhhh......

I'm usually a pretty good keeper of secrets, but I've found that this one has been increasingly difficult to keep. We don't really want to tell anyone until after we've had a chance to be "doctor certified pregnant." I don't think this would be all that difficult; however, it's December, which means holiday parties. So when you're normally the life of the party, a big question mark shoots up when I suddenly just opt for a big old glass of H2O. The first time, I blamed it on a headache. Next time, I think I'll really throw everyone for a loop and tell them that I have a hang over from the night before. :)

It's official...we're pregnant!

It's official...we're pregnant! I have several friends that have babies or are currently pregnant, so to say that we've had the baby fever is an understatement. Plus, I think our mothers are ready for grandchildren.

We've been trying to conceive for about 3 months now, but I did not think that it would happen so soon. During this time, I thought of how I would tell Joe that we were pregnant when the day came and came up with some really cute and creative ideas. I had thought about scavenger hunts, writing a message in pizza toppings on a homemade pizza, a Christmas surprise, etc. So this morning, after I finished my bowl of Cheerios and was feeling well, cheery, I decided to go ahead and test my luck. I had taken one test before, and it turned out to be negative and I really thought that this test would provide me with the same result. But after seeing the 2nd yellow line immediately show up, I yelled out, "Joe..." to which he replied hesitantly, "yes...." And then I just blurted out, "I took a pregnancy test" (long pause)....we're pregnant!" I'm pretty sure it was right after that point that Joe's face lit up and simply said, "That's awesome!"

So now, as I sit here writing this blog, I can't believe that we will be parents in 9 short months. This gift is truly a blessing and we are looking forward to our journey to becoming a family of 3! I have created this blog to document the whole experience and keep everyone up to date as to what is happening in our lives. But for now...it's a secret. So by the time you read this post, I'll be much farther along from two pink lines.
