Gender Neutral

One of my mom's friends said that my blog had a bunch of blue on it and no pink. Well, I decided to change it up and make it gender friendly. The name of this background is called "Lindsay's Delight," so naturally I thought it was the best choice :)

When we find out if we're having a little Romeo or Juliet, all of you blog followers will be sure to know as there will be a definite shift towards boy or girl in the blog design.

I also found this cool pregnancy tracker, which you can see over on the left. If the sonograms don't give you a clear enough picture, this little widget will show you a 3D replica of what baby Peters looks like at each week of the pregnancy. Enjoy!

2nd Doctor's Appointment

I had my 2nd doctor's appointment today and Joe got to go and see the little baby. I think it's safe to say that he was visibly excited and intrigued with the entire experience. We had a little bit of movement but then baby Peters decided to take a nap right in the middle of the sonogram. I said he/she is just practicing for later on in the pregnancy and knows that when mommy lies down, then it's time for him/her to go to sleep too. It also helps that I come from a long line of good sleepers :)

We got to see and hear the heart beat today, which was really cool. Also, if you look to the right of the baby, you'll see my bladder. Didn't realize it was that close, but that explains why pregnant women have to pee all the time. In the middle of the exam, the sonogram tech says, "See that stream right there...that's your bladder filling up." Probably the most random thing I've ever heard or seen, but sure enough, my bladder looked like old faithful this afternoon!

The sonogram tech said that the baby was measuring at 11 weeks/5 days, so almost 12 weeks...even though exactly 2 weeks ago it was 10 weeks/3 days. Not sure how that math adds up, but I'll take her word for it. Maybe this is a good sign that this baby won't be as big as I was on my birthday...8 pounds 13 ounces! The heart rate was 158 bpm which is healthy and strong.

My next appointment is the day after Valentine's Day with the Nurse Practitioner. I'm not sure what that appointment entails...probably checking vitals, weight gain (although I'm below my pre-pregnancy weight), etc. Hopefully we'll get to take another sneak peek at the next appointment and see our little valentine :)

New symptom...migraine headache

Yesterday after I left work, I had a little headache. I figured if I ate something, it would go away....WRONG! What was a tiny headache turned into a head splitting migraine. I put a heating pad on my head and that didn't work; I tried taking a bath and that didn't work either. Joe looked up to see what I could take medicinal wise and Tylenol was the only option...of course we didn't have any at the house. Ugh. So off to bed I went. Joe likes sleeping with the TV on and I like to fall asleep with it off, so we've started taking turns every other night by setting the sleep timer or just turning it off. Joe gave up his night to have the TV on and scratched my back while I laid in agony until I was able to fall asleep. What a good hubby :) Got to work this morning and one of my coworkers had Tylenol...score! All better now. I think I'll be heading to the store right after work to stock up on Tylenol to ward off any future migraine headaches!

Reactions

We've broken the news to our families and their reactions were priceless! I found these really cute frames at Kohl's that say "Sneak Peek" on them and then below that there is a quote that says something to the extent of "How could something so small deserve a love so big". Beside the quote was a place to put a photo, so we put in the picture of our first sonogram that the doctor took last week.

Since we had recently moved, we gave our parents a gift and said, " this is just something small for helping us move." Their reactions were as follows....

Lindsay's Mom (Linda) - I think she was so into reading what the frame said, she didn't notice that the picture was a sonogram at first; however, once she put it all together, we had a hug out, laughter, and smiling session in our driveway. She's currently in the process of coming up with the perfect Grandma name.

Joe's Parents (Joe and Debra) - This was by far the most animated of all the reactions. Debra was entrusted to open the package by Mr. Joe, and before she even got the frame all the way out of the bag, she had the definition of surprise and excitement all rolled into one. In fact, she was so overwhelmed with excitement, she scarred Mr. Joe and he took off running to the living room to give the future grandma some space to let out all of her excitement! Once Joe's dad saw what the frame said, he couldn't stop smiling!

Joe's brother Ryan (the future and only Uncle) - Joe casually called Ryan and was having a normal conversation with him and then slipped in a..."You better watch out because there's going to be another Peters in this world". Ryan carried on for a few seconds and then said, "Wait, what?!" to which Joe repeated that there would be another Peters in this world. Ryan then said, "Is Lindsay Pregnant...that's awesome!" One of Ryan's good friends just had a baby and Ryan's had a lot of time to practice, so I have a good feeling that this baby is going to be lucky to have such a cool uncle!

Joe's Grandparents (Joy and Billy) - We called Joy and Billy since they're a little too far to tell them in person and we wanted to go ahead and share our news. When we called, Billy answered the phone and said that Joy was in the shower. Joe said for him to call us back when she gets out so we can talk to both of them. At that point, I think Billy already knew what was coming and said, "You have some news to share or something?" So when they called back, we told them that they were going to be Great Grandparents, even though they already are "great" grandparents. They were both super excited and have just one request...to please not name their grandbaby Clyde or Clydene. :)

Lindsay's Dad and Stepmom (John & Elena) - We met dad and Elena at Brio in Atlanta for dinner on Saturday night. They kept asking why we came up to Atlanta, figured we were going shopping to get things for the new house. Of couse we went up there to see them and catch up, but also told them that we had a little gift for them that wasn't ready in time for Christmas. Elena opened the gift and smiled with excitement. Apparently she had been having baby dreams lately, which just goes to show you that dreams do come true :) Dad was surprised, although I'm not sure that it's settled in yet that he's going to be a grandpa. He did say that this was a very special gift and that he'd have an extra Sambuca for us both...thanks Dad! The night ended with hugs and an urge to tell the rest of the world about our good news, followed by a sweet email with Dad's famous words of wisdom!

Pops (Joe's Grandpa)
Joe's mom was the one that broke the news to her dad and he gave a pretty funny response. She said, "Dad, I'm going to be a grandma!" to which he replied, "Now what has Ryan gone and done!" haha. Of course he knew that Debra was going to be a grandma by way of Joe and I, but of course Pops saw the perfect opportunity to shower us with his wit and sense of humor. He's looking forward to being a great grandpa!

Dr. Certified Pregnant

Last week I had my first doctor appointment with the OB/GYN and it's confirmed...still pregnant! I got to have a sneek peek at the baby, but my first official sonogram is next week when I reach 12 weeks. As of Thursday of last week, I'm 10 weeks and 2 days, which means I'm 11 weeks and 2 days today. During our sneek peek session, I got to see the baby which you can see is about the size of a peach pit. At one point during the viewing, our little baby put on a show and gave a little wave to the outside world, which you can kind of see his/her right arm. I also got to hear and see the heartbeat and the doctor said it was a healthy sounding heartbeat and that this baby is here to stay :)
