33 week check up

This morning I had a regular check up with the doctor. It was a short appointment...just long enough to check vitals, measure baby, etc. So far, I've gained a total of 12 pounds during my pregnancy (I think 2 of those pounds were the coffee and big glass of water I drank on my way there). My blood pressure was 122 over 68 and Wyatt's heartbeat has remained in the 150's. We're pretty consistent all the way around. I asked the nurse if there was any cause for concern that because I'm not really gaining weight between appointments, is Wyatt growing enough. She said I was doing fine and measured my stomach and estimated him to be around 4 pounds and he's measuring at 35 weeks (I'm only 33 weeks plus a few days). Because I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead, she's sneaking in an extra ultrasound for me at my next appointment to get an exact measurement so we'll get to see our little guy on camera one more time before he makes his grand debut :) My next appointment is in 2 weeks and then I go every week after that. Not much longer!

Showered with Love

This weekend was my first baby shower which was hosted by my dear friends Kelly, Ashleigh, and Jodie. The 4 of us lived together in college at GSU and we were all part of the same Phi Mu family (Jodie is my big sister, Kelly is my twin, and Ashleigh is my little sister). Joe and I are so thankful and overwhelmed with everyone's generosity, love, and support towards us during this special time in our lives. Pictured above is just some of the loot that baby Wyatt received. This picture doesn't include the highchair grandma LiLi gave him, the car seat from the Kubik girls, the JumperRoo from my hostesses, Bumbo from my friend Sarah, the Baby Einstein play mat from my friend Piper, the Baby Bjorn from Reid and Cat, and the BOB stroller from my Aunt Rooney. Thank you again to everyone for all of the wonderful gifts. There is no denying that this little boy is already loved by so many!

32 weeks and 5 days along

As my delivery day gets closer and my belly gets bigger, I thought I would try and post an updated belly picture each week. I took this one yesterday morning at the 32 week and 5 day mark. As you can see, my belly is straight out and I'm pretty much ALL BELLY. My coworkers tell me that I don't even look pregnant from behind...I think that's an Arbuckle trait that I inherited (that's my mom's side of the family). My grandma JoJo carried her weight the exact same way.

Nursery Pictures

Here are the long awaited nursery pictures. Thank you to everyone that has helped make this a special room for our little Wyatt. All of the white furniture, with the exception of the crib, was the furniture in my room growing up. Thanks Grammy for letting us have it for Wyatt to enjoy as well! The bedding ensemble was a gift given to us by Billy and Joy, Wyatt's great grandparents. Grandma Peters helped me find all the cute decorations to include our little sailor friend, the life preserver that says "Welcome Aboard", the green frog, seersucker frame, and storage bins. The book ends were also given to her when Joseph was born to use in his nursery...now Wyatt gets to use them! My dear friend Sarah made the precious needlepoint of Wyatt's name around a sailboat to match his nursery colors. Joe painted the nursery the navy blue color and he and I made the striped valance to go up above the window. And what nursery wouldn't be complete without a guard dog to keep an eye on our sweet Wyatt! This room as become my new favorite place to sit and relax in the house...I hope Wyatt finds it to be just as relaxing :)

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there, especially Great Grandpa Billy, Grandpa Joe, Papa JAK, and to my favorite Dad to be :) Today we celebrated Joe's first Father's Day with a couples massage at the Urban Sanctuary and Spa here in Athens. All of you are wonderful fathers (or will be) and I know that Wyatt will certainly be loved by you all!

Beginning of week 31

I haven't posted a belly picture since my trip to the beach, so here you go! (please excuse the background...Joe's out of town so I had to take a self portrait with the help of the bathroom mirror) Tomorrow I start week 31 of my pregnancy and I'm really starting to feel pregnant. I'm sure the 95 degree days have a little something to do with it. Once you get hot, the only way to cool down is to take a nice cold shower; otherwise, you start feeling like you're having a permanent hot flash! Wyatt is moving all over the place and had the hiccups this afternoon. He also has managed to find my bladder and sit, hit, or step on it at different times of the day and it's all I can do to avoid having a public accident! Maybe it is a good thing that this picture was taken in the bathroom after all!

Dr. Appt - Regular Check up

This morning I had a regular check up with the OB/GYN. I am 30 weeks and 5 days along...not much further to go! The doctor now has me on a 2-3 week visit cycle and he said that I'm right on track. My blood pressure was 126/62. I told the nurse that my diastolic number keeps getting lower, but she didn't seem to have a problem with it and said that my blood pressure is pretty normal for where I'm at in my pregnancy. We listened to Wyatt's heart beat and he's still in the 150s in terms of beats per minute....consistent little guy. The doctor measured my stomach and said that I'm measuring exactly where I should be and that Wyatt probably weighs around 3 pounds at this point. The other day, I noticed a small rash on the upper portion of my abdomen. I wasn't sure if it was a bug bite (a bug flew down my shirt the other day while I was meeting my neighbors for the first time, so I couldn't exactly reach down there and get it out or see what it was) or if it is indeed a rash. It's three little bumps in a perfect line. I also have the same bump on the left side of my chest. I asked the Dr. if it was PUPPS. He said it was a little too early to tell and that it's kind of early for PUPPS to be showing if that is what it is. PUPPS is a hives like rash that strikes about 1/200 pregnant women. It can be extremely itchy and annoying, but poses no threat to the baby. It also goes away within 48 - 72 hours after delivery. The doctor said to apply an over the counter Benadryl or Steroid Cream to the rash...hopefully that works because I really don't want to be itching all summer long. I'm sure that the heat coupled with sweat doesn't help the situation either. If I do in fact get it...would have been nice to have those kinds of odds with lotto tickets, not PUPPS!

On a side note, we're just about finished with the nursery! I made a blue and white striped valance to go over the window and Joe and I hung it up last night. It took 4 nights to get the darn thing mounted to the wall...the first night, there's only a six inch clearance between the wall and the front of the valance, and our drill was too big. So Joe went out and bought a smaller drill and on night two, we realized that the battery pack that we already had did not fit the smaller drill (the larger drill is a 12 volt and the smaller drill is an 18 volt). On day three, Joe went and bought an 18 volt battery to fit the smaller drill, only to find out when he got home that someone placed a 16 volt battery in the 18 volt packaging. At this point I was starting to think that this would never get done. So finally on day 4, the battery fit the drill and we managed to get the valance hung. Looks great by the way and I will post pictures when I get a chance to take them. All we have to do now is hang the navy blue curtains, which hopefully will be far less complicated.
